How to Apply


  • Graduate of a Doctor of Pharmacy Program from an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy
  • Legal working status in the United States to cover the entire period of residency training
  • Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in the state of Illinois (expectation will be for the residents to obtain licensure by August 1st)
  • Hold an Illinois pharmacy technician license if not registered as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois prior to residency program start date

Application Process

The Carle Foundation Hospital PGY-1 Residency Program participates in the ASHP Resident Matching Program (the “Match”), and adheres to the rules of the Match. Residents applying must adhere to the rules of the resident matching program. Applications must be submitted electronically in the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS) at All applications must be submitted by the predetermined date selected in PhORCAS.

Applicants must provide a current curriculum vitae, letter of intent, three letters of recommendation and pharmacy school transcripts. If selected for an on-site interview, the applicant will be required to give a brief presentation and answer clinical questions as part of the interview process.
