The Carle Foundation Hospital Psychiatry Residency Program is an accredited residency affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Medicine. The Psychiatry Residency Program is part of Carle’s outstanding residency training system, which includes a nationally-recognized Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program, and American Osteopathic Association accredited General Surgery Residency and Family Medicine Residency Programs. The Carle Psychiatry Residency Program is committed to making a difference in the lives of our residents, our patients and the world. Letter from the Director

Welcome and thank you for your interest in the Psychiatry Residency Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, in association with Carle Foundation Hospital. We are a university-affiliated, community-based program offering a world-class medical education and an inspiring residency experience.

Our program received ACGME accreditation in April of 2016 and had our first class in July of 2017. We will be utilizing the ERAS application system and the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) process. Please submit all applications for our starting class through ERAS. We are committed to providing unsurpassed training opportunities for our students, residents and professionals seeking continuing medical education.

You will learn from the diverse patient population and excellent supportive and knowledgeable faculty. Our Psychiatry Residency Program provides training at three hospitals and affiliated clinics, including a hospital ranked among the nation's best, a level one trauma center, a community and service focused hospital and a Veterans Administration hospital. Our program will offer opportunities for in depth training in a variety of psychiatric specialties including child psychiatry, integrated care, work with the veterans' population, and possibly a research track in conjunction with the world renowned Beckman Institute. Interdisciplinary training is provided in conjunction with PhD psychology interns, physician assistant students, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and medical students.
